TWLOHA Day

Okay, guys, this is something that's reallyyyy been getting on my nerves and laying heavy on my heart...

TWLOHA day is this Friday (Feb. 12th)... awesome, right? I love the ministry, and I love the movement... BUT... I hate the fact that it's literally become a FASHION STATEMENT. I feel like people are writing 'love' on their arms just because everyone else is doing it.

Guys, this ministry isn't a one-day thing... it's an EVERY day thing. It's not a fashion statement. Depression is real. Self Injury is real. Eating Disorders are real.

So don't write love on your arms because 'everyone else is doing it'. Write love on your arms because you genuinely care. Don't do it once. Don't get this passion for the movement once. Get it every single day. Pray for those struggling every single day.

If you're reading this (you must be...) and you don't know what TWLOHA is, check out www.twloha.com

<3 I love you guys!

  1. I totally agree with you Julie! I hate how people has turned this amazing organization into a trend, and only wear the shirts or write love on their arm(s) as a way to get attention. I personally know what it's like to struggle with both depression and self injury, so I am offended by those people. TWLOHA is an amazing org that has beautiful intentions. I hope and pray that that never fades!

  2. What would be really amazing to me would be to see the Church, the real Church acting as it should in love. That when those with eating disorders and pain and depression walk inside her walls, they find refuge and healing.

But this seems like a very sweet ministry.

  3. I absolutely agree with you, John! The church seems to be filled with judgment and ridicule... why would someone want to be open with people in that kind of environment? We're doing OUR best to love those in pain, to love those who need it so badly and show them what God has for them. We're trying to make the Scream Community a place where they can receive God's amazing love without feeling judged. Many of our staff members have been through the pains of these things... they know exactly how that judgment feels and they don't want it for any of our readers.

    Blessings,
    Julie
