Prayer for the Muslims This Ramadan

Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting and seeking Allah has begun in Australia. In North America, it begins a day later on the evening before 12th August, and will continue for 30 days, ending on 9th September. During this month, the Muslim community do not eat or drink during the day (when the sun is up). To read more about Ramadan, click here.

As Christians, we are called to pray, and I believe God is calling us to pray for the Muslim people this month. Jesus desires ALL people to have a relationship with Him.

"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." 1 Timothy 2:3-4

Let us pray together this month for these people who need Christ so much! Growing up in a non-Christian family, I know it's probably the power of years of prayer that brought me to God. When we pray, He is surely faithful to answer.

The following short video produced by The Voice of the Martyrs ministry is very informative.

Please pray for:

1. Christian workers in Islamic nations, that God may give them many opportunities to witness for Him during the days and nights of Ramadan.
2. God to reveal Himself through visions to the Muslim people (as mentioned in the video above), so that they may come to the knowledge of Christ.
3. Opportunities for us to witness to our Muslim friends or neighbours.

Spread the word and tell your family, friends and church!

"Pray without ceasing." 1 Thessalonians 5:17

Embarking on a Bible Study

Tonight after church I was flipping through my Bible and stumbled upon the Book of James. My Bible is filled with quotes and commentaries... and as I read the quotes I fell in love with their message... as well as the book! I thought about doing a series of article son Scream... doing a chapter per issue... but I don't think I could handle waiting that long for the next part of the study. ;) So I decided why not do a study HERE? You can all comment on the posts I make and we can discuss what we believe the text says. (: So if you're in, GREAT! I'm going to read the first chapter tonight... pray over it... and scribble down my thoughts on it. I'll post another blog about it tomorrow or Tuesday. (: If you're planning on doing this study with me, I recommend you pray over it as well... scribble down YOUR thoughts... and share them with us! My only request is that we don't get into any arguments. This place isn't meant for arguing... it's meant for spreading God's word and providing a loving environment for the broken. Even within the church we interpret things differently... let's all remember to respect EVERYONE'S opinion, whether or not we agree.

Alright guys... GOOOO, read! Enjoy! Pray! Absorb God's word and let it mold your hearts!

Much love,
Julie

Little Reminders

Sunday is one of my favorite days of the week. This morning I woke up early to go to church with some of the girls from my camp. I decided to walk over by myself to our meeting spot, and it really gave me time to take in the beautiful campus. After doubting God a lot lately, I was absolutely taken aback and my breath was taken away by all of the beautiful architecture on the Bryn Mawr College campus. This was one of the greatest reminders that I have had in a while that God is always giving us little reminders of His presence.

It's time to be selfLESS

Hey guys! We haven't posted on here in a longgg time, so I figure it's about time one of us does. ;)

I think it's time we all open our eyes to the world around us... we need to take of the blinders. There are so many kids and adults in other countries who need us. They need our help. They need our help providing food and shelter/clothing for their families... they need our prayers, and they need our GOD.

Next time we're given the opportunity to donate to a ministry benefiting someone other than ourselves, we need to do it. Even if it involves sacrificing something that we want. It's not necessarily our job to support these countries financially, but providing NECESSITIES to these people, opens the door for missions. I'm not saying you ALWAYS have to sacrifice your extra money... you should definitely buy some of the things that you want... but we need to find a balance between being selfish and giving all that we have to missions.

So what are you doing to do next time you have some spare money? Buy yourself that cute pair of heels, that handbag, or that CD? Or will you put yourself aside just ONCE to help open up someone's heart to Jesus?

Operation Beautiful

I am a HUGE fan of Superchick, and they posted a blog on their myspace about Operation Beautiful. It's such a beautiful concept (no pun intended) and I think we all need to jump on board. What is operation beautiful? It's a movement of telling everyone that they are beautiful.
So many times I've heard girls say how they're ugly or how fat they are. I can't count the times that I have said that. But with this mission we all have an opportunity to change someone's day! And who knows... you just might save someone's life! I've been to a point where I've felt so horribly about myself that I couldn't stand to even look at myself. But just one small thing made me smile and it changed my day, my life. How can anyone pass up on an opportunity to make someone smile, or to change someone's day/life?
All you have to do is take out a piece of paper and a pen and leave a positive note where someone can see it. I say let's change the way we think about ourselves! This is just a small step in the right direction! I am definitely on board!

YOU ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL!!!!

TWLOHA Day

Okay, guys, this is something that's reallyyyy been getting on my nerves and laying heavy on my heart...

TWLOHA day is this Friday (Feb. 12th)... awesome, right? I love the ministry, and I love the movement... BUT... I hate the fact that it's literally become a FASHION STATEMENT. I feel like people are writing 'love' on their arms just because everyone else is doing it.

Guys, this ministry isn't a one-day thing... it's an EVERY day thing. It's not a fashion statement. Depression is real. Self Injury is real. Eating Disorders are real.

So don't write love on your arms because 'everyone else is doing it'. Write love on your arms because you genuinely care. Don't do it once. Don't get this passion for the movement once. Get it every single day. Pray for those struggling every single day.

If you're reading this (you must be...) and you don't know what TWLOHA is, check out www.twloha.com

<3 I love you guys!
